Graduate Students and Advisor Present Research at International Conferences

Himali Delanka-Pedige and Srimali Munasnghe-Arachchige, graduate students, travelled with Dr. N. Khandan to Singapore and Malaysia to present their research outcomes. The trio attended and presented at the Singapore International Water Week– Water Convention held July 8-12, 2018. They also presented at the 2nd International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 22-25, 2018.
Himali and Srimali enjoyed this great opportunity to share NMSU research with an international audience.

At the Singapore International Water Week-Water Convention, the following papers were presented:
1. Algal Wastewater Treatment: A Sustainable Pathway for Nutrient Recovery – Poster presentation by Dr. N. Khandan.
2. Algal Versus Conventional Wastewater Treatment: Comparison of MicrobialΓ‚ communities – Oral presentation by Himali M.K. Delanka-Pedige
3. Algal Versus Conventional Wastewater Treatment: Comparison of Pathogen Removals – Poster presentation by Srimali Munsinghe-Arachchige.

At the 2nd International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the following papers were presented:
1. Algal Biotechnology for urban wastewater treatment – Keynote speech by Dr. N. Khandan
2. Algal versus Conventional Wastewater Treatment: Comparison of pathogen removal and microbial communities – Oral presentation by Himali M.K. Delanka-Pedige
3. Pathogen Removal Mechanisms in Algal Wastewater Treatment System – Oral presentation by Srimali Munasinghe-Arachchige
