The Department of Civil Engineering proudly celebrated its student and faculty participation in the 30th Annual Undergraduate Research and Creative Arts Symposium (URCAS), held April 25, 2025, at Corbett Center as part of Research & Creativity Week.
Our students showcased their hard work and creativity by presenting faculty-mentored research projects to an engaged audience of peers and professors. Their efforts were met with great enthusiasm — and we’re thrilled to announce that Brandon Garcia earned a top award for his outstanding presentation!
Representing Civil Engineering at URCAS 2025 were students Anthony Alvarez, Alvin Birmingham-Monroe, Joseph Flores, Brandon Garcia, and Isaid Lopez. They were guided by dedicated faculty mentors Dr. Runwei Li, Dr. Yanyan Zhang, and Dr. Zhe Wan, whose support and expertise helped bring these projects to life.
We also extend heartfelt thanks to graduate student Azeem Alvi, who played a vital role in convening sessions and serving as a judge.
URCAS 2025 was not only a milestone event but also a celebration of collaboration, discovery, and academic excellence. We are incredibly proud of our civil engineering community for their achievements and contributions to this year’s symposium.
